Does the BMW 2 Series Have a Drowsy Driver Alert System?

During the 80s and the 90s, concerned advocate groups noticed an uptick in accidents caused by drowsy drivers. In the modern era, people drive further to work, work more hours, and get less rest. The resulting increase in accidents suggested an impending epidemic in drowsy driver accidents. Engineers of every car manufacturer were asked to resolve the issue.

BMW came up with the Attention Assist program that alerts drivers who repeatedly veer from a lane or who have been driving for an extended amount of time. A coffee cup icon appears in the center console screen to remind drivers of the necessity of alert driving and a required rest allotment.

Whether you are driving in Chico or out on the freeway, it is advisable to consider the coffee cup a warning. If your coffee cup icon remains on after stopping, come to BMW of Chico for an analysis.
