If you haven't changed a flat tire before or it's been a number of years, BMW of Chico has a list of steps that you will need to take to safely return to the road. Before you start, make sure you're parked somewhere safe that you can easily move around your vehicle.
- Wheel covers easily pop off, revealing the lug nuts that are holding your wheel on. Slightly loosen the lug nuts.
- Use your car jack to raise the portion of your vehicle up that has the flat tire.
- Take off the lug nuts that you loosened, and remove the tire from the vehicle.
- Replace your tire with your spare, and make sure to obtain a replacement as soon as possible.
- Place the lug nuts back on the spare, and lower down the vehicle using your jack.
- Tighten all of the lug nuts before you attempt to drive again.
